DogWise offers help with selecting the best companion for your circumstances – sometimes the dog YOU want may not want to be with you for various reasons. The amount of time and energy you are able to offer a dog will vary greatly and the selection criteria must apply to both of you to get it right.
As much as we love our working breeds, Australian Cattle Dogs, Kelpies, Border Collies to name but a few, and the myriad cross-breeds, unless you can take them for a 20klm run every day you are doing them a disservice by subjecting them to the confines of a suburban backyard.
These dogs are often counted as a full-time equivalent of a man on some properties and they absolutely love the work they do. They are invaluable on a farm and that type of dog has a hard-wired personality that is impossible to change.

Dogwise is a Gold Coast-based dog groomer owned by Suzy. Each dog is taken care of with extreme care and attention. Every dog is groomed to professional standards.
Dogwise offers bathing, shaving, scissor cutting, and hand-stripping services. All grooming can be done to the needs and desires of the client. Dogs can be groomed to breed standards or done creatively. Whatever the choice, each dog is groomed to perfection allowing them to walk out feeling good and smelling fresh.

Toilet training
Toilet training – it is probably one of the most frustrating experiences you will endure – take heart though, you WILL get it right! Some puppies learn faster than others and often it is we as owners who create the stumbling blocks. Call for in-home advice and training.
Pregnant?
Pregnant? Already have a dog? Don’t know how you will cope?…prams, leashes, walking, spending enough time with everyone – Expecting a baby will probably be one of the most rewarding and exciting times in your life and it doesn’t have to mean that your previously treasured dog will have to be banished to a lonely existence in the back yard forever. DogWise has programs designed to help transition the change and introduce your baby to your dog. It must be started as soon as you know you are pregnant though…early preparation is key to your success.

Safety
Interacting safely – your child and dogs. We all see the news headlines and watch with dismay the images of injuries to children. Most of these attacks are preventable with some common sense approaches to dog behaviours and the signals and body language they will, in most cases, show. DogWise have techniques to educate children and adults alike to avoid confrontation and worst-case scenarios.
Bad behaviours
Naughty behaviours – barking, chewing, being destructive – there are reasons our dogs display certain behaviours and DogWise will help identify and attempt to correct or shift the focus from destructive and annoying habits into the more constructive and pleasing for both dog and owner
education
School programs
School programs – DogWise offers an in-depth school program aimed at preventing dog-bite incidents among our young. Held over a four-week period this program uses interactive methods to help children identify dog behaviours and explain why dogs do the things they do! Adults are also welcome to come along.
In home tuition
In-home tuition – DogWise offers in-home tuition for those owners who are at the end of their leash and need some hands-on help. Although based on the Gold Coast Dog Wise is available for Brisbane clients (travel fee applies).
